Cocktails for those who don’t like pumpkin juice

Pumpkin juice is a delicious and refreshing drink that can be made from pumpkin together with apple juice, apricot or peach nectar, and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The popularity of pumpkin juice is largely linked to the Harry Potter books, where it is mentioned as a favoured magic drink. And it really is a magical drink.

Benefits of drinking pumpkin juice:

  • Pumpkin contains antioxidants such as beta carotene, which can help neutralise harmful free radicals in the body. The antioxidant power helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases and supports cell health.
  • Promotes heart health: pumpkin juice is high in potassium and helps maintain heart health by regulating blood pressure levels. Fibre, however, can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
  • Improves digestion: fibre improves digestion by supporting regular bowel movements and preventing constipation.
  • Low in calories: pumpkin is low in calories and can be a great addition to a calorie-controlled diet.
  • Improves blood sugar: some studies suggest that certain compounds found in pumpkin, such as pectin, may have a positive effect on blood sugar levels by slowing digestion and carbohydrate absorption.
  • Improves immunity: vitamin C is known for its immune-boosting properties, and consuming pumpkin juice can help maintain a strong immune system.
  • Promotes skin health: the vitamins and antioxidants in pumpkin juice maintain healthy, glowing skin by boosting collagen production and protecting against oxidative stress.
  • Improves well-being after sports: the potassium content in pumpkin juice can help restore electrolytes lost during exercise, promoting post-workout recovery.
  • Nervous system health: pumpkin juice contains B vitamins, including folate, which are essential for a healthy and strong nervous system and cognitive function.
  • Reduces inflammation: some compounds found in pumpkin, such as beta-carotene and other antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce inflammation in the body.
  • Good for eye health: the high beta-carotene content in pumpkin juice turns into vitamin A in the body, which is essential for good vision and eye health.
  • Bone health: pumpkin juice contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which are important for maintaining strong bones and preventing diseases such as osteoporosis.

Despite the fact that pumpkin juice is one of the most valuable vegetable juices because it contains minerals such as copper, iron, magnesium and potassium, as well as vitamins B, C, E, PP, not everyone likes it plain, so here are some recipes that will improve the taste of pumpkin juice!

!!! Please note that it is recommended to consume no more than two glasses of pumpkin juice a day.

!!! The use of pumpkin juice should also be limited for people suffering from gallbladder, liver and bile duct diseases, as it stimulates bile secretion.

Pumpkin, apple and carrot juice

  • 100 ml pumpkin juice
  • 100 ml apple juice
  • 100 ml carrot juice
  • ½ teaspoon olive oil

Mix all the ingredients and add a little cinnamon. The olive oil will help absorb the vitamin A better, while the apples, together with the carrots, will neutralise the smell and taste of the pumpkin well.

Pumpkin, apple and lingonberry juice

  • 150 ml pumpkin juice
  • 150 ml apple juice
  • Handful of lingonberries (or cranberries)

Pour the pumpkin and apple juice into a blender. Add washed and dry lingonberries and blend. The lingonberries (also cranberries) will neutralise the specific sweet taste of the pumpkin juice.

Pumpkin, sweet potato and turmeric juice

  • 1 kg pumpkin, washed, cut
  • 300 g sweet potato, peeled, cut
  • 1 apple, washed and coreless
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1 small, thumb-sized piece of ginger (to taste)
  • 1 small, thumb-sized turmeric root (optional)

Cut all the fruit/vegetables into pieces small enough to fit in the juicer. Pass all the ingredients through the juicer, mix and enjoy. If desired, refrigerate and enjoy chilled. Can be served with cinnamon and/or nutmeg and brown sugar.
